Vignette (pronounced vin-ne-et), is a term used to describe photographs with faded borders.

This PaintShop Pro tutorial demonstrates how to apply the Vignette Photo Filter.
To work along, you are welcome to download the Start Image I am working with Here.
Unzip the file and open the image onto PaintShop Pro’s workspace.

Open PaintShop Pro and then click the Edit tab found at the top of the workspace.

Then open your choice of Start Image onto PaintShop Pro’s workspace; File then Open -
(Ctrl then O).

Now, from PaintShop Pro’s top menu, choose Effects then choose Photo Effects and then choose Vignette.
And from the subsequent Vignette dialogue box, experiment with the Dark/Light, Blur, Diffuse Glow and Feather Edge settings, until you are happy with the result,
and then click OK.
I applied the default settings.
(Tip: If necessary, press Ctrl then Z to remove the Vignette Filter’s application, and reapply the Vignette Filter, adjusting it to your liking).
Tip: Hand Drawn Vignette
For precision, activate either the Circular Selection Tool or the Freehand Selection Tool - as illustrated below. And onto the left-side Preview Image, apply or draw a personalised Vignette of your choice.
Light Or Dark Vignette
I am demonstrating how to darken your photograph’s edges. However, if you would like to lighten the edges, then drag the Dark/Light slider all the way to the right - as demonstrated below.
Tip
For further Vignette Filter information, please click the Help button, found at the bottom of the Vignette Filter’s dialogue box.
After clicking OK, a vignette of your choice will be applied to your photograph, as illustrated below.

To sharpen your photograph, from the top menu, choose Adjust then choose Sharpness and then choose Unsharp Mask. And from the subsequent Unsharp Mask dialogue box, enter settings of your choice, and then click OK.

Congratulations, your Photographic Vignette is complete and it’s ready to optimise and save.
